Demand Planner, Devon, £40 – £45k

Job Purpose:

This role is a key part of the company supply chain team and a pivotal link between the supply and commercial functions. The purpose of the role is to provide a clear demand signal into supply chain to support factory scheduling, material purchasing and therefore optimisation of finished goods inventory. The role also supports planning and effective delivery of materials through national and international transit routes into our dispatch points ensuring excellence in service and continuity of supply.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Demand Planning inc. communication of demand plan
  • Demand/Forecast System Management, Data collection, analysis & insight creation, challenge of commercial assumptions and collaborative action planning & delivery
  • Exceptional demand event planning e.g. Promotional calendar, NPD launches, seasonal demand etc.
  • Analysis & Reporting of medium- and long-term forecast changes with the potential to impact the business
  • Translation of demand planning data into material planning data for company procurement & manufacturing and co-manufacturing.
  • Management of supply chain relationship with D2C fulfilment provider and liaison with FG.com team ensuring material planning and performance is correct.
  • Supply Chain support for international import/export and associated transport, and procedures, working with finance and technical.
  • Adhoc Supply Chain analysis and productivity identification & delivery.

 

Job Specification:

  • Build relationships with Sales controllers, purchasing, finance and supply chain colleagues
  • Lead the demand forecast and review process
  • Report forecast accuracy KPIs and support sales colleagues to develop tools and processes to improve forecast accuracy.
  • Compile and review demand forecasts, giving early feedback to allow for adjustment as appropriate.
  • Run the demand review meetings to understand the consequences of the forecast as well as associated activities such as Delists, NPD, hurdle rate risks, etc. Run delist and other processes as appropriate.
  • Monthly issue of forecast to procurement material schedulers and factory schedulers
  • Awareness of supply chain stock, and stock by location and requirement
  • Conduct a monthly channel-by-channel commercial review of both base and promotional activity challenging demand assumptions and accuracy/bias performance
  • Develop processes and systems to build effectiveness and efficiency.

 

Person Specification:

This person is a confident and experienced supply chain professional with a robust character able to switch between data analysis and implementation of insight/outcome, establishing process and challenging commercial activities and assumptions. This person has the capacity to simultaneously manage a variety of activities, is able to judge priority and keep multiple priorities simultaneously progressing to ensure our service level to customer is kept in the right place and cost under control..

Experience Needed:

  • +3yrs experience in: Demand Planning, Factory Scheduling, Material planning and/or allocation, Stock Control
  • Strong understanding of demand planning process, procedures and measures.
  • Logistics, storage & Transport Management, inc. 3rd party logistics relationships. International logistics in a food/meat environment desirable.
  • +5yrs experience in FMCG Food Manufacturing, Warehousing, Supply Chain and Distribution environment.
  • D2C fulfilment experience desirable.
  • Systems understanding of what ‘good’ looks like, but ability to build this from foundational principles and maintain performance whilst that is happening. Knowledge and previous use of ERP systems and ERP implementation would be desirable.

Strong IT skills, including competent/advanced use of Microsoft 360 suite, specifically Excel. Knowledge of Infor M3, SAGE preferential
